The word Habibi
Habibi means "my love" in Arabic. It's one of those words that crosses cultures and languages without losing its weight. You hear it in songs from Cairo, Beirut, Casablanca, Istanbul, Algiers, Marseille. It carries something universal — the recognition of someone you keep close, even when distance gets in the way.
This deep house version bridges two worlds I've always wanted to bring together: the raw lyrical energy of 2Pac and the melodic atmosphere of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern night drive music. Two cultures, one mood. Both rooted in something honest about how people actually live, love, and lose.
The production
Built around a slow deep house groove with melodic phrasing that nods to the Mediterranean scene, this track keeps the structure my audience expects — heavy bass, atmospheric pads, 122 BPM — but the melodic layer breathes differently. There's a quiet emotional weight underneath. That's the Habibi energy.
FL Studio for the foundation. DJ.Studio for the final mix. The bassline carries warmth, not aggression. The vocals sit forward in the mix because the message matters more than the noise.
"Some words don't translate. They just travel."
Why this crossover
The Mediterranean and Middle Eastern deep house scene is one of the most underrated movements in modern electronic music. Artists like Mahmut Orhan, Hayit Murat, and the broader Turkish deep house wave proved that melody-driven night drive music has a global audience — from Riyadh to Marseille, from Casablanca to Berlin.
This track is my contribution to that conversation. The 2Pac sample anchors it in the world I come from. The melodic phrasing extends it toward the world I want to reach.
Best listened to:
- On the highway at sunset — when the sky takes on Mediterranean colors
- Through good headphones — the melodic layers reward attention
- With someone you call habibi — the track was made for that exact moment
- Loud but balanced — this one breathes
